TSS’ Commitment to Social and Environmental Well-being

On Wednesday, 26 June, Charles Darwin School in Westerham and its voluntary fund-raising arm ‘The Friends of Charles Darwin’ officially opened its ecology garden, a project which has been 18 months in the making.

As an ex pupil of the School, TSS Director, Danny Gostt, felt it was important that TSS provided a donation towards the design and creation of the garden to improve the social and environmental well-being of the pupils and local area. Additional funding came from the “Friends” Group and a number of other local community groups, businesses and individuals.

The 35metre garden boasts trees, shrubs, wood piles, rockeries and a pond and is stocked with a range of garden plants and wild flowers. As well as its benefits to the Science and Art departments it is also intended to be a place for quiet contemplation, study and counselling for the pupils whilst also encouraging birds, bees, butterflies and other wildlife into the area.

This is a small step towards sustaining our ecosystem, which is so vitally important not only for us but for future generations and TSS is extremely proud to have been a part of it.
